Why Ramadan catering starts by moving the meal: observant colleagues fast from dawn to sunset
For a month each year, observant Muslim colleagues take no food and no water between dawn and sunset. The standard office gesture, a catered lunch at noon, reaches everyone but the colleagues it was meant to include.
So the first Ramadan decision is the calendar, not the menu:
- Go easy on food-centered meetings during daylight that month.
- If the office orders anyway, quietly set a labeled box aside for later and skip the announcement.
- Ask privately instead of guessing. Some colleagues fast and mention it to nobody.
None of it costs money, only the assumption that midday is when a team eats together.
