What to order for Doctors' Day: food designed to be interrupted
Physicians eat when the pager allows. A break turns up without warning and ends partway through the meal, so the first question on Doctors’ Day is not cuisine. It is whether one person can pick their lunch up, set it down, and come back twenty minutes later.
A hot buffet cannot. A serving window assumes everyone is free inside it, and on a floor running twelve-hour coverage nobody is. What holds is portioned for one, sealed before it leaves the kitchen, and safe at room temperature: a wrapped sandwich, a labeled box, a bowl with its dressing in a separate cup. Format detail sits on our boxed meal catering menus.
