What to tell a caterer about your offsite venue before they quote
An offsite happens in a loft, a cabin, or a rented event space, and behind the room there is usually nothing: no fridge, no oven, no sink, and nobody whose job is the food. The order has to arrive ready to eat, hold its own temperature, and leave in bags with the driver.
Describe the space to the caterer before they quote it:
- Kitchen access, even a fridge or a sink. Assume no until the venue confirms it.
- Open flame rules. Many spaces ban chafing dishes, which pushes you to hot boxes or cold service.
- Whether tables, power, and ice come with the room.
