Grandma’s food with a contemporary twist
Tell us about Babushka Restaurant!
Our restaurant was founded 22 years ago by the family. Grandma’s recipes were the base of the menu. 8 years ago Chef Zoriy took over the family legacy and brought a new twist to Grandma’s classic Russian recipes.
What was the very first menu item?
There was a group of them: pelmeni, Vareniki, borsch, cabbage rolls, and Beef Stroganoff.
Tell us about one of your signature dishes!
Beef stroganoff and Vareniki are the most popular among or lunch group of clients. You can never go wrong with creamy sauces!
What is one thing not many know about Babushka Restaurant?
We provide comfort food, with you will see at the family reunion or grandma’s house. Something different for sure!
What’s your favorite thing about feeding companies?
Food is a big part of the culture for Russia. We are happy to spread it through our dishes.
What do you like most about partnering with Zerocater?
That we have the opportunity to work all over the Bay Area!
What is your biggest challenge as a restaurateur or chef?
Fear. A lot of customers are afraid of Russian food. But most of them become our regular clients after the first visit.
What piece of advice would you offer to someone starting out in the food industry?
Be patient. The food business is a tough cookie.
Where do you see Babushka Restaurant in the future?
We hope to grow even more and be more noticeable!
