Good things come to those who wait. Patience is a virtue. Slow and steady wins the race. We’ve all heard these terms before, but for the barbecue, this is especially true. Have you ever made your own BBQ? It is truly a test of one’s patience. They know patience at one of our top Chicago BBQ catering vendors, Pork Shoppe. Does a Pork Belly Pastrami Sandwich that has been cured for ten days and smoked for twelve interest you? Us too, read on.
Porke Shoppe opened in April 2010, and has become a staple of the Avondale neighborhood since. They have since opened a second location in Andersonville and likely will keep expanding. A veteran restauranteur and part owner, Michael Schimmel opened the spot with his partners Steven Ford and Jason Heiman. They have crafted a BBQ experience that is simple but effective.
Entering the Avondale location, you are greeted with the wonderful smells of sweet and salty meats. The interior is decorated with rustic farm tools, mirrors, and antique license plates. The menu is very straightforward, and features ‘Combos’ to make sure you get to experience both the main dishes and the sides.
The standout is the Pork Belly Pastrami sandwich and we’re partial to the Mac-N-Cheese and their cornbread. The Pastrami is tender and sweet, and the Mac-N-Cheese is perfectly topped with breadcrumbs and blends very well with the creamy white cheese sauce.
For BBQ catering sandwiches are usually an easy option, but a few other staples at Pork Shoppe include pulled pork, brisket tacos, ribs, and many other great sides. Wash it all down with a beer or bourbon and you’re sure to be in hog heaven.
The next time you’re looking for some great BBQ catering in Chicago give Pork Shoppe a try. Whether it’s for a quick lunch or for a catered office event, Porke Shoppe has partnered with Zerocater to offer an easy catered experience!
