Tell us about Bini’s Kitchen!
Passion, Love towards the food. I’m originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, and came to the Bay Area in 2013. After I moved, I realized how much I missed eating and cooking food from home and decided to bring some of my favorite Nepalese dishes to San Francisco. I got my start with La Cocina’s incubator kitchen, before developing the first Nepalese catering service in San Francisco.
What was the very first menu item?
Momo’s, a Nepalese, steamed dumpling, similar to Chinese soup dumplings. They are a simple flour dough, wrapped around meat or vegetables, pinched and pleated at the top, before being steamed to perfection.
Our Momo’s are hot and juicy, made with either a spiced veggie, lamb or turkey filling and served with a spicy tomato cilantro chutney.
What is one thing not many know about Bini’s Kitchen?
We are concerned about the environment and use compostable plates and serving utensils as much as possible. We have also designed our menu so that any item can be made “vegan” if that is what a customer wants.
What’s your favorite thing about feeding companies?
When I see them eating my food and their first reaction is “YUMMMM”
What is your biggest challenge as a restaurateur or chef?
Every minute is a challenge but how you channelize through is the one.
What piece of advice would you offer to someone starting out in the food industry?
Cook from your heart 🙂
