It’s finally that time of year where the flowers are blooming, the sunshine is lasting and, the imminent summer festival season has commenced! Today happens to be the first day of Coachella: the first of two glorious, music-filled weekends, and this year I have the pleasure of getting to experience it first-hand.
After researching such a renowned festival, one that has taken place in the valley for the past 16 years, I have done my Coachella due diligence and the unique musical lineup is just one component of the weekend’s experience. Between the proper execution of fashionable clothing ensembles, noshing on trendy food pop-ups and experiencing the festival fandom and stimuli overload, I think I am ready to be immersed in it all!
I am excited to see Azealia Banks spit her lyrics on the mic along with Alt-J, Drake, and The Weekend, but throw me some ‘Milk Jar Cookies’ while I am dancing in the dance dome and I will possibly die and go to heaven. There is literally no shortage of good food at Coachella; this year the organizers have made that evident. From what once was hamburgers and hot-dogs for fare, has now been replaced by over 40+ trendy up-and-coming food popups that offer homemade comfort food and the crème de la crème of deserts, authentic dishes, pizzas, and even gourmet coffee.
As I sit here and salivate for a moment longer, I realize there is no shortage of excitement for the festivities that are soon to follow. For those of you will be joining me at Coachella, or partaking in other festivals throughout the summer, I leave you with just a few tips:
- Bring sunscreen
- Use your credit cards, more festivals like Coachella are using merchants like Square for everything
- Get resourceful and utilize your flight mode to spare phone battery
- Try as much good food as possible. You aren’t soaking up the culture unless you are eating your way through it
