Everyone is familiar with the 3:00 pm slump. If you’re not, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that you’re not being entirely honest with yourself.
After an onslaught of morning meetings, grinding out reports, and generally staring at your computer all day, it’s a little bit difficult to stay alert, inspired, and… well, awake.
My friend, whom shall not be disclosed, often finds refuge in her company’s peanut M&M bucket. Okay, who am I kidding; I’m talking about myself here. Every day we get the best lunch in the city, yet I continually find myself a slave to the ol’ M&M container. I swear, every time I hear it refilled, it’s like Pavlov’s theory in real life. I salivate and soon find myself walking to the container to pour myself a heaping hand full. That’s normal, right?
So, to infuse some healthy habits back into my life, I began researching the best snacks to nosh on while working. For some reason, I’m not sure that my daily candy habit tops that list. According to Eating Well Magazine, protein is king to get you through your afternoon slump. Snacks like a smoothie or a nonfat latte can offer a little boost to rejuvenate your brain gears in order. Trail mix, (sans candy, of course), hard-boiled eggs, and veggies and hummus also top the list, providing a healthy kick to your fatigued brain.
So there we have it—the secret to success! What do you nom on to get through your workday? Comment below and help this beleaguered blogger lay off the M&M’s!
