- Name: Melissa Burke
- Title: Sales Development Representative
- City: Austin, Texas
“Melissa is a Zerocater hero that I’m extremely lucky to have on my team. She was recently promoted as the first hire on a VERY important new SDR team, and from day 1 has approached the role with grit, determination, and perseverance. Taking on a new role with ever-changing processes, goals, and priorities is not an easy task, but Melissa handles it like a true pro.”
– Andy Lavelle, Sr. Manager, Demand Generation Marketing
Tell us about your current role and how you’ve grown since joining Zerocater.
I just moved into my new role and it’s been very exciting! I get to connect with everyone that has reached out to Zerocater about office catering or snacks. As far as growth, I am 100% more confident on the phone and feel comfortable having crucial conversations.
What were you doing before, and why did you decide to join Zerocater?
I had just moved to Austin and was serving at a restaurant to meet new people. Zerocater was my jump back into the office world. Learning about the dog calendar for the office dogs broke my heart into a million adorable pieces.
What is the hardest part of your role at Zerocater?
I’m the first person in this new role so we’re working out all the kinks. It’s a challenging but rewarding process!
What is the best part about your role at Zerocater?
Probably the same answer as the hardest part haha. It’s been fun and exciting being a part of something brand new. My manager is very supportive and collaborative.
What do you like most about working at Zerocater?
The people! Everyone is so incredibly supportive. Whether they’re sitting in the same room or in another office across the country, I know my team has my back.
What are the opportunities for growth at Zerocater?
I was promoted from the Support Team just over a year into my role. My manager meetings have always incorporated my career aspirations and I feel encouraged to explore growth within ZC.
At this moment, what are you most excited about at Zerocater?
Seeing new teams being built out. Our Austin office has seen a lot of change and growth and we can’t be stopped!
How do you start your day?
I grab a string cheese, 100 cal pack of almonds and cold brew from the kitchen and dive into my inbox!
Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself?
I have six nieces and nephews
I’ve won a lip sync battle
I moved away from the PNW because I hate the rain
If there was a movie made about your life what would the movie title be and who would you want to play you?
“Call Me, Maeby!” Jennifer Lawrence would play me and my puppy and sidekick Maeby would play herself.
What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
I love finding new swimming holes and hiking trails with my pup and pals!
Last question, what is your favorite meal you’ve had at Zerocater?
Last year I think we got to try about 4 different Thanksgiving meals and it was the best work week of my life. But I am never more excited than Hand Pie day from Sezi.

*Melissa’s lie?
She didn’t move away from the PNW because of the rain (she actually misses the rain) but after being there her whole life she was ready for a new adventure.
