Public transportation in San Francisco ranks among the more irritating reasons to live here. MUNI is notoriously late—and dirty—and BART suffers through strikes, filth, and delays regularly.
Two companies have tried and failed to fix the SF transit scene, but one is beginning to start an eco-friendly trend that will be sure to catch fire. Scoots is a network of green, electric scooters situated around the city that offer a fast, cheap, and efficient ride to work.
While the notion of scooting, to some, may be a little scary, Scoots ensures your safety by mandating a one-hour training session to get started. During this session, you learn the ins and outs of the bikes, how the app functions, and the best way to scoot safely. Truth be told, I was pretty nervous to get started, but after my friendly instructor Jonathan covered the basics, it was an absolute blast.
Pricing plans start at $2 per 30 minutes of riding, but packages are available should you choose Scoots to commute. There are parking stations and garages all around the city, and it’s never been easier (or faster) to get from the Marina to SoMa in less than 30 minutes.
For more information, check out Scoots Networks. Trust me, you will not regret it!
