Every year the crème de la crème of the A List attend the Met Gala.
The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme. Each year the event also has honorary celebrity event day chairpersons. This year, the person was Anna Wintour and the theme was: China Through The Looking Glass.
Celebrities flooded the red carpet, showing up almost ethereally perfect. Everyone from Kendall Jenner to Jean Paul Gautier walked the red carpet; cameras flashing a mile a minute. Sarah Jessica Parker wowed in a daring headdress and Beyoncé was, per usual, the star of the show by going near-nude. Each celebrity was dressed to the nines, totally embracing the theme of the evening.
This being 2015, there were a million opinions about everyone’s attire. From “articles” on Refinery29, to newly sprouted memes, there was a definite winner for backlash: BadGalRiRi. Rihanna.
Her frock,—which admittedly, I loved— was called Big Bird, a freshly cracked egg, and pizza couture. Can’t please everyone, Rihanna!
Do you have a big event coming up? If so, take the pressure off the evening by letting Zerocater source and serve your meals!
